6.01 Annual Report
SACPC prepares an Annual Report to be handed out at the Annual Meeting of the Congregation, generally held in late January of each year. All Committee Chairs are responsible for submitting a report for their committee in January following each year they serve as chair.
(For example: The person serving as committee chair in 2003 will be responsible for submitting a report January, 2004 summarizing the activities of 2003.)
The reports will be due to the Media Secretary in mid-January, approximately 2 weeks before the Annual Meeting of the Congregation. Reports may be brought to the church office or sent by e-mail to media@sacpc.org.
Please use the form below and continued on the reverse side of this sheet to guide you in preparing the report for your committee.

6.02 Long Range Planning Committee Report
ST. ANDREWS-COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE REPORT
Five Year Plan: 2001 - 2006
St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church is a dynamic and growing community of Christians. We have faithfully followed Jesus Christ's charge (Matthew 28: 16-20) and also that of our Book of Order (G-4.0200) "The church is a fellowship of believers which seeks the enlargement of the circle of faith to include all people and is never content to enjoy the benefits of Christian community for itself alone." We are blessed with strength in numbers, resources and talents; the challenge of the Long Range Plan is to channel these strengths to glorify God and to hold ourselves accountable to God and one another.
Why plan? If you think back to the church where your parents or grandparents grew up, you think of a small, intimate church with the entire congregation there every Sunday. When issues arose, the church leaders could call a meeting for a given Sunday and come to a solution that was heard by the entire group. Think of today at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church with approximately fifteen hundred members. We never have the "entire congregation" there on any given Sunday. We have elected officers to run the church and an administrative staff to manage the day to day operations of the church. When a church of our size operates without a clear vision and plan for the future, it can stagnate and may not reach its potential in many ministries. The Long Range Planning Committee was charged with the task to produce a long range plan for St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church. We have solicited input from the congregation, officers, staff, clergy and consultants to help us understand which direction the church needs to go to fulfill its ministries. Let's talk about how we've used this process before.
In 1990, the Session had a Long Range Planning Committee work to produce a mission statement and a supporting plan that was also tied to the budget process. This process worked well for a number of years. In 1992, a consultant was hired to give us input on where the church was and where it needed to go. At the same time, the Facilities Task Force was formed to determine the facility needs of our church. This group also used an outside consultant, an architectural firm, to help decide what our growing church needed to adequately address our building needs into the future. A facilities plan was adopted and we enjoy the results today. Now we look to the future and lay out a plan that will give direction and yet be flexible enough to adapt in a changing world.
Before we look to the future, let's look at the strengths of St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church today. The Long Range Planning Committee is keenly aware that much of what St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church now does is of great value and we fully support the continuation of existing ministries. In the congregational survey and through conversations with staff, officers and members we celebrated the ongoing ministries of our church that have served us well and will be part of our future. Among these are our children's ministry, our music ministry for children and adults, Stephen ministry, short term mission trips, Wednesday night fellowship dinners, Presbyterian Women, adult education, Sunday Morning worship, etc. These and other existing ministries are not the focus of the Long Range Plan. They are the FOUNDATION of the Long Range Plan. We stand on these ministries' shoulders to reach beyond.
The following is the proposed revised mission statement and definitions of the main areas of ministry we feel describe St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church:
"Our mission as St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church is worshipping and glorifying God, proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ, teaching discipleship, encouraging a loving servant community and caring for a hurting world."
Worship Ministry
- worship experiences, music ministry
and preaching
Discipleship Ministry
- Christian education, stewardship,
small group ministry
Mission, Outreach, and Assimilation Ministry
- local/worldwide missions, evangelism,
assimilation
Fellowship and Caring Ministry
- fellowship, caring and community
spirit
Administrative Ministry
- personnel, communication, facilities,
technology and planning
This Long Range Plan is not all inclusive of every possible need of the church. It is a vision and a guide for the Session and Diaconate to use to navigate through the upcoming years. A number of items in this plan are already "in the works". This plan should be reviewed and modified as the Session is led by the Holy Spirit. We thank all who provided input and review during this planning process. It is our hope that this document will be of constructive service to the congregants and to this body of Christ. Most of all, we pray that these collective efforts will serve the ministry of God.
We ask each of you to read and reflect on the words in the following prayer as you prepare to review the attached long range plan.

Prayer
"It helps, now and then, to step back and take a long view.
The kingdom is not only beyond our efforts, it is even beyond our
vision.
We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction of the magnificent
enterprise that is God's work.
Nothing we do is complete, which is another
way of saying that the Kingdom always lies beyond us.
No statement says all that should be said.
No prayer fully expresses our faith.
No confession brings perfection; no pastoral visit brings
wholeness.
No program accomplishes the church/ministries mission.
No set of goals and objectives includes everything.
We water seeds already planted knowing that they hold future
promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces effects far beyond our
capabilities.
We cannot do everything and there is a sense of liberation in
realizing that.
This enables us to do something and do it very well.
It may be incomplete but it is a beginning.
A step along the way.
An opportunity for God's grace to enter and do the rest.
We may never see the result.
But that is the difference between the master builder and
the worker.
We are the workers, not master builders.
We are ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future that is not our own."
Amen.
- Archbishop Oscar Romero

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
