Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me,
and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven
belongs to such as these.
"
~Matthew 19:14

Here at SACPC, we value our church's children.  We have over 150 active children on our rolls in between the ages of infant and 5th grade.  Consequently, we try to have an extensive, and holistic program in place that welcomes children and shows them God's love.  In addition to our busy children's choirs, we also have other activities in place:

Children's Sunday School
 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. weekly

Children’s Sunday School classes for 2 year olds through 5th grade provide Bible learning opportunities using a variety of proven educationally sound techniques.  Sunday School is an investment in our children.  Parents and volunteer leaders work side-by-side with the church to lay a strong foundation, built on Christ, in each child’s life.

Our preschoolers (2 year olds through Kindergarten) experience Hands-On Bible Curriculum each week.  This program actively engages children while they learn about God. Just as Jesus taught his most powerful lessons using simple, everyday objects—fish, coins, sheep, lilies, bread—we do too! 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s meet in the nursery wing adjacent to the sanctuary.  Kindergarteners meet downstairs – follow the signs!

Our 1st – 5th graders participate in the Workshop Rotation Model  Sunday School.  We learn important Bible stories and Presbyterian doctrine through kid-friendly multimedia workshops: Art, Drama, Music, Games, Food, Audio-Visual, Computers, and more!  1st – 5th graders meet together in the Temple room (downstairs) before separating for workshops.

Children and Worship
11:00 a.m. worship services

After the “Moment for Children” during our worship service, children in Kindergarten and 1st grade go with adult leaders to a special room for a unique worship experience.  Children learn about the elements of worship and stories of the Bible through  meaningful, Montessori-influenced, Reformed worship.  Parents pick up children upstairs in the Children At Worship Room immediately following the worship service.

                           Amigos
    (3rd-5th Grade Service/Fellowship Group)

During the school year, we host service and fellowship events for our 3rd – 5th grade children on a monthly basis.  Past Amigos events include walking to promote hunger awareness through CROPWALK; Christmas caroling to shut-in members; pottery making for Empty Bowl ministry; and overnight mission trips to Charleston, SC and Camp Kirkwood.

                 Sunday Morning Nursery Information
Our nursery wing serves children birth through 4 years old and can be found adjacent to the sanctuary.  A combination of dedicated volunteers and paid workers staffs the nursery during all worship services.  Childcare for infants and toddlers is also available during Sunday School.

Children's Library
Begun in 1997, our Children’s Library has grown into a treasure of literature for children, educational information, and parent resources.  New gift books appear on the shelves weekly to be checked out by our children and families.  It is a self-serve library maintained by a hands-on group of dedicated volunteers.

Other Offerings
We also offer occasional special programming for children and parents:

How To Be Involved
We know that the spiritual development of your child is important to you. Knowing, trusting, obeying God through Jesus Christ and living as faithful people is important to us, too! We share a mutual desire and hope for your child! There are many different ways to share in this vital ministry at SACPC. People like you make the ministry! Some are in the children's classrooms on Sunday morning; some are a support role to the class leadership teams; some are "behind the scenes," mid-week, done at home! The important thing is that we work together to raise faithful children. God has given this privilege to parents and the Body of Christ.  For more information about specific opportunities to be involved, call Shannon Playl at 762-9693 ext. 214.
