Rev. Steve Hein  -  Pastor/Head of Staff

Steve graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (PCUSA) with a M. Div. in 1975. Before arriving at SACPC in June of 1998, Steve served churches in Sharon, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, and Waterloo, IA.  He and his wife Katherine (Kay) have been married for 34 years and they have 3 children: Jennifer & her husband Chris live in Chicago, Will and his wife Alethea live in Chapel Hill where Will works for Met Life and Thea is in her fourth year of medical school.  Their youngest son Christopher lives in Chicago and works for a Methodist Church.  Steve enjoys golf, bridge, and the "Steelers". Kay teaches 5th grade at Cape Fear Academy and they both love it when their three adorable grandchildren come to visit them from Chicago. 

Rev. Doctor Edward Connette  - Pastor Emeritus
                                    
After graduating from The University of Tennessee, Ed spent 2 years in the Air Force. Following his military service, he, his wife Liza, and son moved to Richmond where he graduated from Union Theological Seminary. In June of 1956, Ed, Liza and their children Woody, Sarah and Betty moved to Wilmington where he served as Assistant Minister at SACPC, and in 1958 became Pastor. With two more children, Albert and Andy he moved back to Richmond, Virginia in 1974. Ed then retired from The Westminster Church in 1990 and moved back to Wilmington. He served SACPC as Parish Associate for 6 years, then another year as interim Associate Minister. His wife Liza likes to say, Ed has flunked retirement five times. In between retirements, Ed fishes, reads, travels, works in their yard, and enjoys his grandchildren.

Rev. Robert H. Lapp  -  Associate Pastor for
Congregational Ministries

Robb joined the SA-CPC staff as an associate pastor in 2000.  He grew up in south Florida, and is a graduate of Lenoir- Rhyne College and Louisville Presbyterian Seminary.  He has served churches in Missouri and Kansas before returning to the southeast.  In the spring of 2008 he had the opportunity to take a 2 week pilgrimage to Israel.  His wife, Vickie, teaches 4th grade at Ogden Elementary, and they have two children: Kate (16) and Stephen (12).  In their spare time you can find them at the gym watching Kate play basketball or at the soccer field watching
 Stephen. 

Ann Jahnes  - Associate Pastor for Adult Ministries

Ann is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and St. Andrews University, Scotland.  She has served churches in Iona, Scotland, Paris, France and in North Carolina as well as doing campus ministry at UNC-Greensboro.  She and her husband Bob have four children:
Jay, Catherine, Nate, and Lizzy.
 

Sharon Miller  - Director of Music Ministries

Sharon Miller joined the St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church staff in June, 2008, as the Director of Music Ministries.  Growing up in Portsmouth, Virginia, she studied both voice and piano from an early age and has been involved in church music all of her life.  Her musical studies are from James Madison University and Virginia Tech.
Sharon moved to Wilmington from Richmond, Virginia where she served the congregation of Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian, Virginia, heading a large music ministry of all ages.  In 2004, she was Co-Chair of Music for the National General Assembly Conference and has been a clinician at several conferences in creative ways to use music in worship.  Sharon has also chaired the Presbytery of the James Worship and Music Conferences with guest clinicians Marva Dawn and John Bell.  In addition to her choral work, she is an accomplished pianist and enjoys both performing and vocal coaching.  Sharon is married to John Miller, Organist at St. Andrews-Covenant and has three children;  Katie Miller, a Marketing Director for Time Warner in New York City; Emily Miller, an OB/GYN physician (resident) in Chicago; and Nathan Miller, a Strategic Analyst for Royall Inc. in Richmond, Virginia.  In her spare time Sharon enjoys the beach, playing bridge and entertaining friends and family.

John Miller  - Organist

John Miller joined the St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church staff in June, 2008, as Organist.  A native Virginian, John studied piano from age six and became a church organist at age 15.  John has been the organist at Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian, Virginia; Westminster Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia; The Scots Kirk, in Lausanne, Switzerland; St. Michael Church (Lutheran) in Blacksburg, Virginia; and Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia.  During his time at Salisbury Presbyterian he served on the building committee for the new sanctuary and led the church in the specification, purchase and installation of three pipe organs.  John is married to Sharon Miller, Director of Music Ministries at St. Andrews-Covenant and previously was President and Chief Executive Officer of Hauni Richmond, Inc., the United States subsidiary of an industrial machinery manufacturer.  In his spare time John enjoys the beach, snow skiing, and gardening.

Cindy Litzinger  -  Associate Director of Music for Children

Cindy has a BS in Music Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.  Prior to coming to St. Andrews-Covenant, she was a music teacher in the New Hanover County School District.  Cindy is trained and certified as an instructor in both Kindermusik and Orff teaching methods.  Her primary instrument is clarinet.  She, her husband, and their children are members of Wesley Memorial UMC where she is active in the contemporary worship service’s praise band and adult and children’s hand bell programs.

Nathan & Tara Tuttle  - Directors of Youth Ministries

Nathan and Tara Tuttle joined the staff in August 2008.  They both grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and are excited about being able to serve students and families as a team.  Nathan served as youth pastor at Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for five years before coming to SACPC.  Tara served three years as youth pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Ocean Springs, MS, and has been an administrator for the Regional Young Life Office in Winston-Salem before arriving at SACPC.  Nathan has a BSBA, doubling in Marketing and Management, from UNC-Charlotte and Tara holds a BA in Bible & Religion with a concentration in Youth Ministry from Montreat College.  For fun, they enjoy their four-year old lab Sadie, reading, just about all recreational activities and following Wake Forest athletics.  Go Deacs!!

Nancy Gresham  - Associate Director of Youth Ministries

Nancy became Youth Director of Middle School Ministries December 2005 after serving for 2 years as part-time assistant.  She graduated from UNC-CH with a BA in education and taught second grade for 6 year here in Wilmington.  She was previously employed by US Airways for 22 years and enjoyed her time as a flight attendant ("sky goddess").  She loves working in her yard and aspires to be a famous night club singer one day, singing her renditions of "Girl from Impanema" and "Boots are Made for Walkin."  Her greatest joy has been working with the incredible youth here and sharing Jesus with them.  Jer. 29:11


Shannon Playl  - Director of Children's Ministry & Family Nurture

Shannon is a graduate of both King College and Carson Newman College with degrees in Education, Communication Arts, and Music.  Before moving to Wilmington, Shannon was a life-long resident of Tennessee where her father is a Baptist pastor.  She has enjoyed a variety of vocational pursuits in recent years including middle-school education, event coordination, and a brief stint as a professional karaoke singer (seriously…). Most recently, Shannon joins us from Nashville where she assisted with a children’s ministry to over 500 children.  Her recreational pastimes include reading, running, theatre, music, and University of Tennessee sports (Go VOLS!).

Jerry Worley  -  Church Business Administrator

Jerry G. Worley joined the staff as Church Business Administrator after a number of years in corporate credit management for major furniture manufacturers. He is a graduate of Carson-Newman College, a Baptist school in East Tennessee and has earned CBA certification through Union PSCE in Richmond, VA.  Jerry and his wife, Phyllis, have one adult son who is married and living in Hickory, NC.  They attend First Baptist Church, Wilmington, where Jerry helps teach a couples' Sunday School class.

Pat and her family have lived in Wilmington over 20 years.  She is married to Herb and the mother of three girls.  She and her husband are members of Pine Valley Baptist Church, and they enjoy spending time with their grandsons.

Susan joined the staff of SACPC in June 2007.  Susan, her husband Scott and their two daughters, Tracy and Melissa, attend Cape Fear Presbyterian Church.  She is a Wilmington native and enjoys the beach, boating, cooking, reading, spending time with friends and family and is a die-hard Carolina Panthers fan.

Barbara joined the SACPC staff in December 2003.   She is the proud grandmother of a beautiful granddaughter.  Barbara's two daughters and their families live in Charlotte, NC.  Her interests include hiking, biking, reading, walking her greyhound, daily devotion with God, and her family. Barbara and her family are natives of Wilmington.

Lori joined the SACPC staff in May of 2002. She is originally from the "Chair City" of Thomasville, NC. She enjoys biking, walking, reading, going to the beach, and serving Christ. She attends Port City Community Church where she especially enjoys sharing the wonders of God's love with the children of Treasure Island through object lessons and puppetry.

Laura joined the St. Andrews-Covenant staff in November 2005.  She is a  native of Georgia, South Carolina and Wallace, NC.  Laura graduated from Mount Olive College with a BS in Church Ministries. She enjoys: tennis, the beach, history, music, traveling, and NC State basketball.  Laura participated in mission trips doing Children's Ministry in Mexico and East Africa.
