Greetings from Our Senior Pastor

Welcome to the SACPC web site.  I hope you enjoy surfing the information about our church.  I think you will be able to see that we have an active, enthusiastic and growing church.  We are proud of our heritage and looking forward to serving Jesus Christ in the 21st Century.

At SACPC you will find a church that has a passion for missions locally and worldwide.  We have begun several community missions.  Recently we brought a Bosnian family to Wilmington and helped them relocate and begin their lives in a safe environment.  Five mission trips left our church this year for the spread of the gospel and following Christ’s command in Matthew 25.

When you enter into our sanctuary on Sunday morning you will find a sanctuary filled with all different age groups.  Lots of children and young families attend our church.  Great music lifts us into the presence of God.  In between our Sunday morning worship services we have an active Sunday school.  We have thirteen adult classes and a Sunday school class for every age of childhood.  We have a staff of over 60 teachers helping all of us to grow in our faith.

September 2001 marked the beginning of our Saturday evening contemporary worship service. While including an order of worship similar to the Sunday morning services, our contemporary service incorporates contemporary music, drama, dance and audio visual tools to proclaim the Word of God.

On Wednesday evening we have over 100 people for dinner and children’s choirs and adult education.

Perhaps you might do more that just surf our site.  Come and visit us.  This is a great church seeking to love God and serve His world.

Rev. Steven E. Hein

General Information
God began his work through our congregation in 1858, when Fayetteville Presbytery organized the Second Presbyterian Church with fourteen members. The first building was erected by the First Church located on Chestnut Street, between Seventh and Eighth Streets. In 1888, this church changed names and locations becoming St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on the corner of Fourth and Campbell Streets. Thirty years later, in 1918, the Church of the Covenant was organized and met at the site of our current church building. The merger of the churches of St. Andrews and Church of the Covenant was made effective June 1, 1944, adopting the name St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Currently, our congregation serves over 1000 members of all ages. On any given Sunday morning, between 500 and 600 children and adults come together in our church facility to learn about and worship Almighty God.

Please call the church office at (910) 762-9693 for more information or to visit.

Presbyterian Beliefs
As Presbyterians, we express our faith through written confessions. These confessions, such as the Apostles Creed, are subordinate standards in the church, subject to the authority of Jesus Christ as He is revealed in the scriptures.

Presbyterians affirm the concept of "The Priesthood of All Believers" recognizing that Christ is the Head of the Church and all persons (clergy and lay persons) stand together in submission to Him.

The Presbyterian form of government is representative democracy. Representatives from the congregation are elected to serve on the Session as elders. Each level of government (Presbytery, Synod, General Assembly) is comprised of representatives from the preceding level.

The Presbyterian distinctives of Doctrine, Clergy and Laity, and Church Structure work themselves out uniquely in each particular church.
