Serve in the World

For us, the “world” is that area beyond the boundaries of our local Wilmington community. We regularly serve others in the world by praying, by sending mission teams to other cities, states and parts of the world, and by offering direct financial support. We’re also in partnership with churches in Malawi, Africa and in Brazil. Lean more below about the opportunities we provide for you to serve in the world!

Malawi Partnership Trip Planned for June 23-July 3, 2018!

When Silas Ncozana was here this fall, he invited all of you to come to Malawi to meet your partners at Chuluchosema CCAP and to see what God is doing through our friendship. Now is your chance to accept that invitation!

A SACPC trip to Malawi is planned for this summer. Our plan is for up to 14 of us (including youth and leadership from a couple of Malawi Team members who have made the trip before) to depart Wilmington on June 23 and fly from Raleigh to Blantyre, Malawi on the 24th. We will return on July 3.

The trip is open to everyone from high school age to adults of all ages. What the group will do in Malawi will depend on the skills of participants. Possibilities exist for building, practicing medicine (including dental), teaching, and general relationship building and communications.

Cost for SACPC members is airfare (approximately $1,900) plus other miscellaneous expenses (approximately $400). Room and board and ground transportation in Malawi are covered by SACPC's Go and Serve budget for participating members. Scholarships are available to help partially offset the personal cost of the trip.

An information meeting is scheduled after POPS on Wednesday, January 10 at 7:30. Ask questions and pick up an application (or download one now)! It is a life-changing trip and one that will deepen both this partnership and your faith. We hope you will consider saying "yes" to this opportunity.

Summer Mission Trip to West Virginia

Go and Serve is sponsoring a mission trip from July 15-20 to do home repairs including siding, roofing, painting, replacing flooring, rebuilding porches/decks, and building wheelchair ramps in Charleston, West Virginia.

We will be working with the WV Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps directed by the Rev. Joan Stewart who is a daughter of our church. She reports that "it was involvement in mission with St Andrews-Covenant that led me to seminary, and ultimately back to my origins in West Virginia." She adds, "I look forward to reconnecting with my 'home folks' of SACPC. I owe them the big push to answering my call to ministry. Their prayers and support are part of my story of faith that began with singing 'Here I Am Lord' one too many times."

The trip is open to all members of SACPC ages 14 and older. The cost is $100 per person. Please contact Gary Smith for more information or to answer your questions.
