Easter Sunday
This Sunday
"The good news is...alive + wild!"
Rev. Katherine B. Harrington
Death cannot stop the good news. It is alive, unbound, and wild in the world! Come, celebrate the good news of the resurrection through Word, song, and sermon with scripture from Matthew 28:1-10.
Bring a friend, a flower for the flowering cross, and a dish to share and join us for worship and in between services for Fellowship on the Lawn! May the good news of Jesus Christ transform our lives and compel us to share that good news with the world!

Easter Invites | Tell Me Something Good
by Katie Harrington

Every week this Lenten season, we have been challenged and encouraged by the good news of the gospel. The good news of Jesus Christ is so good we have to share it! This Easter, share the good news with your friends and neighbors. Invite them to join us for worship to hear and embody the story of the resurrection of Jesus in a new way. Death cannot stop the good news. It is alive and wild in the world!

After the Amen

This past Palm Sunday, Katie took us through Mark's retelling of Jesus entering Jerusalem. Mark's gospel is uniquely different from the other retellings like when the disciples were asked, in great detail, to fetch a donkey. Katie challenged us to consider what "fetching a donkey" might look like today. It's an important reminder that tedious tasks like asking for volunteers, washing dishes, making casseroles, sending and reading a bunch of emails is the type of "donkey work" that keeps us faithfully humble servants to the Body of Christ.
Katie also reminded us when the crowd cried "Hosanna!" ("Save Us!") It was a desperate plea to be saved from the tyranny of the Roman Empire. We were challenged to reflect on how often we find ourselves asking Jesus to save us from our own sufferings. So, before we rush to Easter, let's sit with Jesus through this entire Holy Week. To stay awake and pray. To walk with Jesus to his death on the cross and live with the despair of that moment. This is what the good news of the gospel requires us to do. It requires us to act in big and small ways.
As we meditate on Mark 11:1-11 try one of these practices this week:

- Do "donkey work": Identify one small, unglamorous task in your church or community and commit to doing it without recognition.
- Practice "Hosanna" prayers: Each day this week, pray "Hosanna" - both celebrating God's goodness and crying out for help in your areas of need.
- Attend both Holy Thursday & Easter Sunday services: Commit to walking through Holy Week with Jesus by attending our Holy Thursday service and one of our Easter Sunday celebrations.

Thank You for Your Support of the Preschool!
by Rene Sasser

We are incredibly grateful to our church family for the outpouring of generosity shown during our recent Go & Serve donation drive. Because of your kindness, the preschool received a wonderful collection of materials that are already being enjoyed in the classroom and on the playground. Our teachers greatly appreciate the help restocking our supply closet.
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed financially to our matching gift campaign. Your support has already helped us make significant progress toward our goal, and we are deeply appreciative of each and every gift.
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to participate, there is still time! Donations to the matching gift campaign will continue to be accepted through the end of the school year. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a gift to the children we serve.
Thank you again for your generosity, prayers, faith, and continued support. Your willingness to give so freely is a true reflection of our shared mission and compassion in action.

Tell Us Something Good!!

Calling all parents/guardians! We know our young people are living out the Good News of Jesus and want to celebrate their work! Especially, if they are active in PC(USA) affiliated programs outside of SACPC. For example:
Our own Olivia Phelps was part of the PC(USA) delegation to the UN for the Conference on the Status of Women. Olivia had the opportunity to listen to stories from women around the world, learn more about the needs, barriers and gender inequality women continue to face, and was even asked to take part in a panel of young women doing advocacy work.

Welcome New Members | Byrd Family
by Connections Team

Please join us in welcoming the Byrd family to our church! Dustan and Emily Byrd recently joined by reaffirmation of faith, and we are so glad they are here. They were first introduced to SACPC through our preschool ministry and felt drawn to a place where “All are Welcome to The Table.” We’re grateful they found a home here. They have two children, Lilliana (Kindergarten) and Connor (Pre-K), and we’re delighted to have their whole family with us. It’s also a joy to see familiar connections grow; they’re neighbors with the Bohbrinks.
Both Dustan and Emily are pharmacists, Dustan originally from Texas and Emily from Ohio, but they have happily called Wilmington home for more than a decade. They share a love for giving back to the community and enjoy spending time together as a family, especially through kid-friendly and outdoor activities.
In their free time, they enjoy music, pickleball, and golf, and Emily especially enjoys baking as a creative outlet. We are excited to have the Byrd family as part of our church family. Please be sure to say hello and help them feel at home!

M&M (Music & More) Updates & Celebrations
If worship felt a little more energetic than usual this past Sunday, you were not imagining it! Our children helped lead the congregation during the opening hymn, “We Are Marching in the Light of God,” by accompanying the singing on their drums — and they did a fantastic job. Children from Kindergarten through 5th grade have been spending the last several weeks in our Wednesday afternoon Music & More (M&M) time learning different drum beats and rhythms. What started as a few simple patterns quickly turned into a full drum ensemble, and the children were excited to use what they learned to help lead worship.
The children practiced several different rhythms and worked hard on staying together, watching for cues, and keeping a steady beat — not always easy when you have a drum in your hands! Their goal was to help the congregation sing with confidence and joy, and judging by the smiles (and the volume!), they succeeded.
This Sunday also marked the end of our M&M season for this program year. Each week included time for both musical activities and Christian education, giving the children opportunities to grow in faith while also learning to share their gifts in worship. We are so thankful for the children and families who participated each week, and especially grateful for our dedicated volunteers who help make M&M possible by assisting with both the music and education portions of the program. Many thanks to Catheryn Thomas, Beth Davis, and Denny Smith for their time, energy, and willingness to share their gifts with our children each week.
It has been a joyful season of singing, ringing, drumming, learning, laughing, and making joyful memories together, and we can’t wait to see (and hear!) what our children will do next year.

Help Build a Boat

We will be raising money in April to help our partners in Brazil—the staff and members of the Petropolis Presbyterian Church—build a boat to use in their ministry to communities along the Paraguay River. This partnership is 25 years old, and over the years, we have sent a half dozen teams to Brazil to work with them in this vital ministry.
The Petropolis Church received a large grant to help build the boat, but still needs about $30,000 to complete the vessel. After it is finished, they will no longer need to rent one to use in this important outreach. Pastor Nonato Santos recently visited with us to talk with us about this critical piece of their ministry. He is also visiting friends in Florida and Texas to solicit funds.
Donations can be made online or by placing a check designated for the Brazil partnership in the offerings on Sundays in April.
