Children’s Director of Christian Education 

Part - time

Summary: St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church (SACPC) is looking for a ministry partner to build the Christian education experience for children and families in the church. We seek an educator who can instruct children and equip parents in both knowledge of the Bible in the Reformed tradition and engagement in the worship experience; who can train teachers and parents by equipping them with skills to lead children and build relationships in family units and in the congregation; and who can coordinate with education leaders for youth and adults in mutual learning experiences.

Responsibilities: 
● Responsible for children’s christian education, Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
○ Plan and deliver education programming on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday mornings, from September  - May.
○ Work with other education staff members to select curriculum.
○ Work with Children’s Team to recruit teachers.
○ Provide training and support for teachers.
● Plan children’s time during worship services and prepare worship packs for children each week.
● Oversee Children and Worship program (or other similar programs) for K-2nd.
● Supervise Sunday morning Nursery Coordinator, who provides training and scheduling for nursery workers and volunteers, for ages birth to Pre-K.
● Work with Music Director to plan Wednesday evening Music & Mission sessions during the school year.
● Plan events throughout the school year with Children’s Team; for example:
○ Family Retreat (Camp Kirkwood)
○ Advent pancake crafts & missions night (work with youth and fellowship leaders)
○ VBS (plan, recruit, equip, lead)
○ Pool parties and other family events
● Coordinate with Preschool Director on shared space and similar programming.
○ Serve on the Preschool Board.
● Deliver new baby gifts to families.
● Give baptism books to families at baptism ceremony.
● Submit, maintain, and work within the Children’s Ministry budget.
● Provide content for the newsletter, website, and social media outlets.
● Communicate to congregation and families about classes and events.

Work Schedule: Part time: 30 hours a week.
Flexible schedule; Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings required; remote work possible. Salary and benefits: salary as budgeted; PTO and Continuing Education time available.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred.
At least two years of experience working with children in an educational or church environment.
